Contemporary Reimagining for a Kitchen Reno
Chatswood Kitchen & Bathroom
Our BoxMakers team had a lot of work to do to achieve this brilliant white & warm kitchen! Requiring a total replacement of the walls, floors, and ceiling, this room upgrade paved the way for the kitchen!
For this premium home on the coastal North Shore, BoxMakers performed much more than a simple kitchen renovation. With burst pipes and leaks, we found the kitchen area and floorboards to have thorough moisture ingress – and that had to change. With the room aching for a full overhaul to its internals, our team stepped up to give it the full treatment.
More Than a Kitchen Reno
It wasn’t simply the floors that needed a change, but also the walls and ceiling too. After having them fully swapped and prepared, we go to work on the main event: a complete kitchen transformation! Initially a standardised NZ-style kitchen filled with 80s textures across the room, the owner wished for something modern and capable while retaining the original layout – a contemporary reimagining!
To start off, we opened up and pushed back a few walls, whose gifted inches made a big difference in the kitchen’s openness, replacing the angled pantry with the fridge cabinet. We finished the bulk of the cabinetry in Prime Melamine’s Quarter Lemongrass, with a Velvet texture. These were adorned with bow handles from Stefani Orlato. We also took advantage of the room’s full height, ensuring floor to ceiling coverage.
A Beautiful Benchtop
The benchtop is where things get interesting: true to the original layout, it also included a lowered breakfast bench section. While the main benchtop was finished in Uniquartz’ Calacatta Leon, the breakfast bench came in Laminex’s Calacatta Gold Velour, a sweet complement to the white of the main counter and splashback. Beside, it’s paired with Prime Melamine’s Premium Oak-finished cabinets.
The cooktop and rangehood are seamlessly integrated, both built-in and with almost zero footprint. Inside the cabinets, we tucked away a range of goodies such as Enko’s Full-Height Pull-Out Pantry, and a Side Pull-Out from Vauth-Sagel. Of course, we installed hinges and drawer runners from Häfele, making certain smoothness all over. There’s even a bifold door for the new corner pantry.
